Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through an Internet account. The regulations are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the greatest assemblage of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, apart from the interaction with competing players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the bettor has decided on which cards he would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are able to pick the most money-making machine each time.

As soon as the first round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that has been won. Further, several versions of the game give the gambler an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case another game is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
