Electronic Poker is a beloved game that usually will be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, through an Internet account. The rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to get the best combination of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts should now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that discerning gamblers are able to select the most profitable ones each instance.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that might been won. Additionally, some styles of the game give the enthusiast an opportunity to double their wins, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also differences among specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
