How to Gamble on Video Poker

Video Poker is a beloved game that can be wagered on in casinos all over the globe, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through a net connection. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the enthusiast puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the play button. A five card hand will be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can range from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are able to select the most profitable game every time.

Once the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that has been won. Further, a few versions of the game give the bettor a chance to increase their profits, in which situation another game is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
